2016 Baseball Youth Majors Recaps- Vero Beach


July 10-15



The Baseball Youth Majors made another trip to Florida stopping at Vero Beach. The games were played at Historic Dodgertown, the former spring training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers.


8U Division

In the coach pitch division there was two teams that played solid the whole week. Those two teams were Team Miami and Bahamas Freedom Farm Green. These two teams played a very exciting championship game where runs were at a premium. Team Miami though captured the title putting up one more winning 2-1.

9U Division

The Florida Chargers stole the show in this division. The team allowed just eight runs in all of their pool play games going 5-0. In bracket play the Chargers pitched together two shutouts before advancing to the championship game. On the other side of the bracket Bahamas Freedom Farm took on the St. Lucie Mets where the Mets snuck by them 5-4 to advance to the championship. In the final game though the Chargers continued their dominant presence claiming the title over the Mets 11-1.

10U Division

In the 10U Division three teams all compiled 3-2 records for the top three seeds of the division. Due to tiebreakers though VBBA was the number one seed, Winter Park Diamond Force was the number two seed, and Bahamas Freedom Farm was the third seed. When it came to bracket play VBBA and Winter Park Diamond Force were able to advance to the championship. VBBA got the upper hand scoring 21 runs claiming the title.

11U Division

The 11U Division was taken by Georgia Full Throttle. In bracket play they were able to knock off Line Drive in the semifinals 8-3 and then took care of business in convincing fashion winning the championship 11-1 over Triple Crown Sports Academy. Bahamas Freedom Farm had a solid run in pool play going 4-1, but were upset in the semifinals by Triple Crown Sports Academy.

12U Division

Caribes de Venezuela tried for their second Baseball Youth Majors Championship of the year after winning the Kissimmee Majors in June. They ran into some trouble though and causing that was the Bahamas Freedom Farm. The Freedom Farm went a perfect 5-0 in pool play while Caribes de Venezuela went 4-1. When it came down to the final game Caribes de Venzuela fell short. Bahamas Freedom Farm stole the show winning 3-1.

13U Division

This division was highlighted by both of the St. Lucie Mets teams. Both teams were able to work themselves through pool play in their respective brackets to play in the title game. Taking the title game was St. Lucie Mets Select Lemond over St. Lucie Select Team 2.

14U Division

In the oldest age division Evoshield Florida 20/20 went a combined 7-0 in the tournament to take the final age division crown. In the championship game New York Express Baseball gave them a run for their money but Evoshield held on to win 4-3.
