Banditos Black and Team Phenom Set for Title Game Showdown

After three days of pool and bracket play the National Youth Baseball Championships title game is set for Monday night between Banditos Black out of Houston, Texas and Team Phenom from Moreno Valley, California.

Banditos Black represents Super Series Baseball of America, and they come into the title game outscoring their opponents 44-11. The Banditos defeated Upper Montgomery and Stealth Baseball in pool play then took care of Stealth Baseball again in the quarterfinals and the Central Florida Gators in the semifinals.

Team Phenom is the USSSA representative, and they outscored their opponents 36-5 on their way to the championship matchup. Team Phenom took down Hope Mills and the Germantown Giants in pool play then defeated the Sierra Valley Storm in the quarterfinals and the So Cal Outlaws Black in the semifinals.

Coming into the National Youth Baseball Championships, both teams were ranked in the top five of Baseball Youth’s Elite 25 Rankings for the 12U division. Banditos Black were at the No. 2 spot and Team Phenom had the No. 5 spot.

The Banditos Baseball Club is looking to make it back-to-back championships with a win Monday night. Last year, the 12U Banditos Black won an extra innings thriller over the San Diego Stars to claim the title.

Television coverage of the championship game begins at 7 p.m. EDT on the CBS Sports Network. Fans can also follow the action live online at
