Competitive Play Makes its Mark at 2014 Baseball Youth National Championships
The inaugural Baseball Youth National Championships showcased some of the finest teams in travel baseball as seven teams were crowned National Champions on July 27 at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.
The event began Thursday, July 24 with the Opening Ceremonies and pool play was held the following two days as teams battled for position in the single-elimination brackets. Weather, as unpredictable as it can be in the Midwest, was never an issue during the four days, and the new 26-field mega complex Grand Park was an incredible venue for the event.
With a bid to the National Youth Baseball Championships in New York on the line, the 12U division was perhaps the most competitive. The Indiana Bulldogs earned a hard fought 4-3 win over Team Kansas City to win the championship and move on to New York. Mikey Kantor pitched three solid innings and hit two doubles in the win.
Indiana teams captured four of the seven championships, including national powerhouse Indiana Baseball Club as they went undefeated through the tournament. Click HERE to see full results from every age group at the Baseball Youth National Championships.
