East Texas Rough Riders Looking to Bounce Back at Fall Nationals
In their second season, the East Texas Rough Riders from Mount Pleasant Texas has been playing great baseball, and will be looking for their third title of the fall this weekend.
Just a week after coming off a 2nd place finish at the USSSA Tara Sawyer tournament, the East Texas Rough Riders will be back in action at the Fall Nationals Super NIT in Grand Prairie Texas.
So far this season the Rough Riders have taken tournament titles at the Summer Slam V and the Matt Dozier Benefit Tournament.
They’ve scored 165 runs through 16 games, with less than 8 runs only three times, and as impressive as their offense has been, their defense has been right there. With seven shutouts on the season, the Rough Riders allow just over two runs per game, giving them a ridiculous run differential of 8.1 runs per game. Some of their key pitchers include Travis & David Hester, Matthew Wyman, Michael Hampton, and Connor Gage.
The Rough Riders are 15-1 so far and coming off their only loss of the season, dropping a tight 2-1 game against the Dallas Dodgers. Though they won’t have a chance to get even this weekend, they will have a chance to clinch an early berth to the Elite 32 World Series.
The Rough Riders should be able to capitalize on the small tournament field, which features only six teams as of now, and they look like the favorites going into Saturday’s pool play rounds. They will be looking to join the SBA Canes 13U – Donathan as the only two teams to qualify for the Elite 32 thus far.
