Evoshield Canes 11U Off to a Solid Start This Season

The 11U EvoShield Canes out of Raleigh, North Carolina are off to a solid 19-5 start to this season, with all five of their losses coming from playing up to 12U competition.

The Canes have won four out of the seven tournaments they’ve played in this year, including the AAU 12U North Carolina Central State championship. The team plans on playing in the Triple Crown Invite in Virginia, the Triple Crown Border War in North Carolina and the AAU National Championships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Florida.

Coach Dan Swaim is now in his sixth season with the Canes. The team went 50-8 in 2012, winning seven tournament championships, and four of those titles came while playing up in age. They won the Carolina Super NIT and the USSSA North Carolina State 11U championship.

Be on the lookout for the Canes pitching staff this season. Justin Honeycutt and Jalen Hollins are left-handed pitchers that can mix pitches extremely well. Cy Smith and Carson Swaim are the Canes’ other go-to pitchers. Cy has a big arm and will certainly make a big splash this year on the national level.

Carson can mix pitches very well and keeps batters off balance. Levi Perrell has been the anchor of the defense for years with solid play at second base.
