Little League World Series U.S. Field Set for Williamsport
The Little League World Series is set to begin Aug. 15-16 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and the eight U.S. regional champions are looking to bring the title back home to the United States. Last year, Japan won the LLWS Championship over Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League from Grosse Pointe, Michigan won the Great Lakes region. Newark National Little League (Newark, Delaware) claimed the Mid-Atlantic Region. Urbandale Little League (Urbandale, Iowa) represents the Midwest region. Westport Little League (Westport, Connecticut) comes out of the New England region. Eastlake Little League (Sammamish, Washington) earned the Northwest region title. South Nashville Little League (Nashville, Tennessee) were victorious in the Southeast region. The Southwest region champs come from Universal Little League (Corpus Christi, Texas), and the West representative is Eastlake Little League from Chula Vista, California,
The eight International teams come from Chinese-Taipei, Australia, Canada, Puerto Rico, Czech Republic, Japan, Panama and Mexico. It’s the first time in Little League World Series history that teams from Australia and the Czech Republic are heading to Williamsport.
Play begins Thursday, Aug. 15 with Panama and Puerto Rico squaring off at 1 p.m. ET. There are four first round games on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 16. The Little League World Series is double elimination until the United States, International and World Championship games.
