Top Texas Teams Eyeing First National Youth Baseball Championships Bid

The eyes of the travel baseball world will be fixed on Corpus Christi, Texas and the Cecil Fielder Winter National on Dec. 5-6 as top teams from the Lone Star State will be competing to earn the first bids for the 2015 National Youth Baseball Championships in New York. The champions in seven different age groups (8U-14U) will earn automatic bids into travel ball’s elite event played at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, New York.

This year, the NYBC has expanded to include more age groups than just 11U and 12U that competed last year. The Junior NYBC (8U-10U) and Senior NYBC (13U-14U) will take place during NYBC Week in New York on July 28-Aug. 3. Teams can earn bids at elite qualifiers held throughout the country.

The Baseball Legends Cecil Fielder Texas Winter National has a loaded field with many of the top teams in Texas competing. The 12U division will be one to watch especially with the likes of the two-time NYBC champions Banditos Elite, Citius Elite and Broncos Elite. In 10U the No. 1 ranked team from 9U in Baseball Youth’s Elite 25 for the 2014 season, the SandCrabs, look to claim their NYBC bid, and Slam Baseball is one to watch in 11U. Based in Corpus Christi, Slam finished last season ranked No. 3 in the Elite 25.

After the Cecil Fielder Winter National, the next qualifier is the Baseball Youth Winter Championships in Newberry, Florida on Feb. 6-8. The EvoShield Canes, Team Avalanche, Atlanta Angels, Team Siege and several other top 12U teams are already registered and Team MVP and the Florida Stealth will be a part of the 11U division. This event is already shaping up to be the most competitive winter event in the state of Florida and the Southeast region. Click HERE to go to the Winter Championships event page.
